ALBANY — A Dougherty County grand jury has issued several indictments, including one charging Jecory J. McCray, a former Dougherty County police officer, on two counts of terroristic threats and two counts of violation of oath by public officer.

According to the indictment returned earlier this week, the first of the alleged terroristic threats was directed at Nikendra Bynum on March 13, stating “U knew she was about to bring K but u ain’t there. yall better find somebody to play with tho, yall think Tip went off!!”

The indictment states that the message was delivered to Bynum in the form of a text message and, according to Greg Edwards, Dougherty County district attorney, refers to the homicide of David Thomas, allegedly by Tiffany “Tip” Malone on March 7.

Malone, who has been charged with felony murder, has not been tried for the Thomas homicide, Edwards said.

A similar message was delivered to Bynum on March 17, the indictment states, also referring to Thomas’ death and alleged threat against Bynum’s life.

Because McCray is accused of having made the terroristic threats during times he was on duty as a police officer, he is charged in the indictment with two counts of violation of oath of office.

In a second indictment, a grand jury on Wednesday charged Montavious Adams, Quintina Yvette Adams and Jacob Tyrell Carter with one count each of robbery in the Aug. 3 robbery of Dollar Tree located at 500 N. Slappey Blvd.

The grand jury alleges that the defendants, working individually and jointly, took by force more than $4,000 in currency from William Bullock, assistant store manager.

Police officials earlier said that at the time of the robbery, Quintina Adams had worked as a cashier at the store and provided “inside information” to her son, Montavious Adams, and her boyfriend, Jacob Carter, concerning when the cash would be transported.

Edwards said that even though a deadly weapon was not used in the commission of the crime, if convicted, the defendants could face up to 20 years in prison.
