FRIDAY’S PREP BASEBALL ROUNDUP: Miller doubles up Dougherty; Baconton edges Early; Westover splits DH

ALBANY — The Miller County baseball team is now 1-1 after doubling up on Dougherty, 14-7, on Friday behind big games at the plate from Brett Snow (3-for-4, four runs scored) and Brian Lovering (2-3, 2 doubles, 3 RBI) and a solid day on the mound from John McGowan, who struck out six.
Dougherty’s Kendal Hicks had a good game as well, going 2-for-4 with three runs scores.
Justin Nelson took the loss for the Trojans on the mound.

BACONTON 4, EARLY COUNTY 2:
Bo Tipler earned the win as the Blazers moved to 3-0. Early’s Holder Chapman was the only multi-hitter of the game with two of the Bobcats’ total five.
Baconton scattered six hits.

WESTOVER SPLITS: The Patriots lost to Marianna (Fla.), 8-7, then beat Liberty County (Fla.), 14-7, for their first win of the season.
Nick Lane was the winning pitcher in Game 2, while J.T. Santos blasted two home runs between the two games and the Pats’ Michael Schlegel hit one.
