ALBANY — Fans of the many Albany-area artists nominated for this year’s GA Music Awards have only a few days left to cast a vote to help their favorite acts bring glory home to Southwest Georgia.

Voting for the fourth annual awards presentation began in early June and will ends Monday, which will give organizers a chance to compile the voting results and announce winners at the Aug. 15 GA Music Awards Show at Atlanta’s Buckhead Theater.

Artists from Albany hoping to take home prizes this year include perennial nominees Unbreakable Bloodline (UBL), who are nominated for Best Hip Hop Group; Nick Alligood, who is trying to win Best Country Male for the second year in a row; Intoxicated Logic, who are nominated for Best Rock Band; Tony B, who is nominated again for Best Hip-Hop Male; and Faith Jackson, who is trying to take home her second Best Country Female award in the last four years in her final year of eligibility.

“Being that this is my last year to have the opportunity to be nominated for that award, I would really like my fans to vote really hard to let us bring that award home,” said Jackson, who won’t be eligible for the awards moving forward now that she has joined the cast of the national touring musical “Metal.” “Not just for me. I think it’s a good feather in the cap for my band for us to be able to say we worked hard, we got here and on our last ride out we brought it home.

“I can’t do anything without my band and the support they give me, and I certainly can’t do anything without my fans. So I just want to make sure that we mention please vote, vote, vote. And let’s have a big party after we win.”

Joining those repeat nominees are first-time hopefuls Southtown, who are nominated for Best Country Band; 3rd Class Citizen (3CC), who are also up for Best Country Band; Michael Burrows of Intoxicated Logic, who is up for Best Rock Male; Mike Little, also up for Best Rock Male; Dirt Messiah, who are nominated for Best Metal Group; Wampus Creek, who are up for Best Rock Band, and Days to Come, who are also nominated for Best Rock Band.

The GA Music Awards were designed to recognize the musical talent across multiple genres that call Georgia home and to give many of those talented artists a chance to reach an even larger fan base outside of their respective regions of the state.

“We really are one of the few awards shows that tries to bring all genres into one room,” said Omar McCallop, founder of Award Show Nation, which produces the GA Music Awards. “With a lot of other awards, they just focus on rock music or country music. We want people to see there’s a lot of diverse music in Georgia.”
