Gang initiation leaves Sylvester man dead

ALBANY — Albany police said a preliminary investigation shows that Ricky Bernard Williams, 24, of Sylvester succumbed to injuries he received over the previous weekend during a gang initiation.
Ka’Moree Jackson, 17, was arrested and charged with felony murder in the beating death of Williams on the 500 black of Pinson Road in Albany.
The Albany Police Department’s investigation into the death remains ongoing as investigators continue working to identify additional suspects involved. More arrests are expected.
APD also announced that Christopher M. Howard, 23, is wanted on charges of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during certain crimes, burglary, and theft by shoplifting in a Dec. 28 incident at the One Leaf business at 1628 Clark Ave. in Albany.
Police said the suspect stole several alcoholic beverages while in possession of a firearm. When the store owner attempted to stop the suspect, an altercation occurred, and the owner was struck in the head with an object, causing severe bleeding. The suspect then fled the scene on a bicycle.
