GBI announces promotion of Sylvester native to leadership position in Americus

AMERICUS – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced this week the promotion of Clinton Karsten to assistant special agent in charge of the GBI’s Regional Investigative Office in Americus.

“ASAC Karsten is a great leader and has been a great investigator,” GBI Director Chris Hosey said in a news release. “Since becoming an agent eight years ago, he has positively impacted this agency, and I look forward to seeing what he will accomplish in this role.”

Karsten began his career with the GBI in December 2015 as a special agent assigned to the Regional Investigative Office in Americus. In 2018, he was selected to be part of the GBI Special Enforcement Team. As a specialized role within the Special Enforcement Team, he also became a certified emergency medical technician.

Karsten, a Sylvester native, graduated from Kennesaw State University in 2010 with a bachelor of science degree in Political Science with a concentration in Legal Studies. He currently lives in Albany with his family.

Karsten is “hard-working” and “has a passion for his work,” Investigative Division Director Cynthia Adkins said. “(He) has served the communities in and around Americus for a number of years creating valuable experience and professional relationships that will help him as a leader and mentor within the work unit.”
