ALBANY, Ga. — After two years, a restaurant just a stone’s throw away from Darton College has closed its doors.

The Beef O’Brady’s located at 2610 Gillionville Road shut down Sunday evening.

“The bank foreclosed on the property,” Brian McKie, owner of the Beef O’Bradys in Leesburg, said.

The Leesburg location on U.S. Highway 19, its owner emphasized, is doing very well. “We are going to get ready to start delivery soon,” McKie said.

When asked about his feelings regarding the Albany location closing, McKie described it as a “non-event.”

“It’s less competition for me,” he said.

The Herald’s attempts to seek comment from Bill Farnsworth, who was the owner of the Gillionville Road location, were unsuccessful Tuesday.

The Leesburg location, measuring roughly 3,200 square feet, initially opened in mid-2006 under Farnsworth’s ownership. In early 2008, plans were announced to open a facility in Dougherty County.

There is a third Southwest Georgia location on North Main Street in Moultrie.

The restaurant chain, whose presence is primarily in the southeastern United States, is based in Tampa, Fla. The first pub was opened in 1985 by founder Jim Mellody.
