ALBANY — Mark Murrah, animal protection manager from the Georgia Department of Agriculture Animal Protection Section, was at the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce on Thursday to present grants to eight animal shelters through Southwest Georgia ranging from $2,000 to $7,500 coming from donations, income tax and car tags for sterilization efforts. They were Bainbridge-Decatur Humane Society, BRAC Humane Society, Best Friends Humane Society of Worth County, Humane Society of Terrell County, Humane Society of Valdosta-Lowndes County, Miss Kitty Feline Sanctuary, Moultrie Colquitt Humane Society and Sumter Humane Society.
