ALBANY — A few of the assaults the Albany Police Department responded to over the weekend involved deadly weapons, reports show.
One such incident was reported to have taken place at 1013 Cedar Ave., Apt 1F, between 3 a.m. and 6:15 a.m. on Saturday. In that case, said APD Spokeswoman Phyllis Banks, the victim stated he was at his new girlfriend’s residence when his ex-girlfriend showed up with a knife.
Banks said that when he opened the door, he tried to push the ex-girlfriend out. In the process, he was cut in the face with the knife.
There was an unsuccessful attempt to locate the suspect, Banks said.
An earlier incident on Saturday was reported from the Goodwill Center at 2015 N. Slappey Blvd. just after 1 a.m., reports show.
The report on that incident said officers responded regarding an aggravated assault report. The victim said he was walking home from the nearby Subway when he turned into the alley beside Goodwill when an unknown man approached him from behind. The victim said he turned around and saw the man put a gun in his face, the report said.
The victim said he had headphones on, so he could not hear what the gunman was saying. When the gunman was told to take whatever he wanted, he ran off, the report said.
The suspect was described as a black man with long dreads and a green jacket, the report said.
Another incident took place at 1106 13th Ave. at around 1 a.m. on Sunday, reports show.
Officers responding to that incident reported to the address regarding property damage. Contact was made with a tenant, who received a phone call from a friend who said someone had kicked in his back door. About 20 minutes later, an unknown person fired two shots through the back door of the residence, the report said.
Officers found two bullet holes in the rear of the back door as well as two shell casings near the back door. Two holes were also found in the bottom wall near the kitchen table. One bullet was recovered from the lower part of the wall, while the other was too deeply embedded to pull out, the report said.
The friend was in the residence at the time and said he heard a loud banging at the door and two gunshots while sitting on the couch, the report said.
