Hay, it’s a Monday!

ALBANY — Here’s a unique excuse for drivers who were late for work Monday — the hay bale got in the way.
But for eastbound drivers at the intersection of East Oglethorpe Boulevard and Mock Road, that might have been a perfectly good reason this morning. A tractor-trailer rig labeled T&T Farms lost part of its load, blocking at least one lane for eastbound traffic during the morning rush hour.
It appeared the huge bales came off the trailer as the truck was turning right onto Sylvester Road from Mock Road.
A forklift was reloading the bales while Albany police directed traffic around the incident.
Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the Albany Police Department, said that officers were only there to assist with traffic control during the cleanup — which was completed at around 9 a.m. No report was filed.
Information available from the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension website indicates that, depending on its exact size, bales of hay like the ones that fell off the T&T truck Monday weigh up to 1,700 pounds.
