Hibbett Sports to open Camilla location

CAMILLA — Sporting goods giant Hibbett Sports announced this week that it will continue its expansion into Southwest Georgia when the company opens one of its newest locations next month in Camilla.

According to press release issued by the Alabama-based athletic equipment and apparel retailer, Hibbett has long-focused on mid-sized and small markets, and currently operates more than 1,000 retail stores in such markets, primarily in the South, Southwest, Mid-Atlantic and Atlantic regions of the U.S.

“We’re thrilled to be opening a new store in Camilla,” said Hibbett Sports Inc. President and CEO Jeff Rosenthal in the press release. “People in Camilla take their sports seriously, and we plan to give them the athletic products and know-how they’ve been looking for.”

The new Camilla location will be located at 131 US Highway 19 N, and will follow the company’s model of placing 5,000 square foot stores in enclosed malls, or in this case, strip centers.

Once open, the Camilla Hibbett Sports will be the company’s 102nd location in Georgia, which trails only Texas in terms of number of Hibbett locations in one state.

Opened in 1945 and headquartered in Birmingham, Hibbett Sports carries a large selection of athletic equipment, footwear and apparel. The company carries name brand merchandise and team-branded items, as well as providing localized apparel and accessories focusing on local teams and leagues.
