THE FISHING LINE: ( * ) – poor; ( * * ) – fair; ( * * * ) – good; ( * * * * ) – excellent.

LAKE SEMINOLE ( * * ): For bass, fish topwater baits early over submerged hydrilla growing close to deeper water. Fish creeks later in the day with Texas-rig worms worked over deep hydrilla around 15 feet. Hybrids are good early and late on the flats and sandbars. Use topwater baits, diving crankbaits, and spoons. Crappies are slow. Fish channel ledges with minnows at 10 to 15 feet. Bream remain very good. Fish over sandy bottoms at 5 to 8 feet. Catfish remain slow. (half fish)

LAKE WALTER F. GEORGE ( * * ): Bass are fair. Small fish may be taken on topwater baits early in the morning, but the best fish are coming from the river ledges. Crankbaits, jigs, and Texas-rig worms are working. Hybrids are good. The fish are schooling early in the morning and late in the afternoon over deeper water. Use a shad-imitating crankbait for the best results. Crappies are fair on the ledges. Numbers are down, but individuals are good. Bream are good and shellcrackers in fair sizes are reported. (half fish)

FLINT RIVER ( * ): Fishing has been fair to good overall. Most species have shown steady improvement over the past week or so. Some fish continue to bite despite the fluctuating water clarity and overall changing conditions. Shoal bass remain quite active as the hot weather continues. Fish early in the day and expect some pretty good topwater action. Tiny Torpedoes and buzzbaits are good. Largemouths are slow. Bream fishing can be fair. Redbreasts and bluegills are active early on crickets fished near the banks. Catfish are a bit slow, but steady. (half fish)

LAKE BLACKSHEAR ( * ): Action-wise, bass are good. According to some reports, however, fish size leaves something to be desired. Fish small plastic worms around docks and cypress trees. Crappies are slow. There are plenty of fish holding along the river channel ledges between 15 and 25 feet, but they are reluctant to bite either minnows or jigs. Stripers and catfish are slow and only scant bream reports are available. (one-quarter fish)
