Inman residence in Albany named top yard for March | PHOTO GALLERY

ALBANY — The residence of Dr. and Mrs. John Inman at 1010 Glenview Road has been named the Albany area’s Yard of the Month for March by the Daffodil Garden Club.

“The Inmans have lived here 58 years and the wonderful plantings speak to the years that have been put in the planning,” said Marideane Maxwell, chair of the Daffordil Club’s Yard of the Month selection committee.

“Most every tree and shrub you can think of is here and so many that have reached a maturity you will not find in many yards — beautiful yellow blooms of Forsythia with blooming bulbs, Wisteria just beginning to show color, and Camellias in many hues, to name a few.”

Viewing the property is worth more than a drive-past, she noted.

“The home sits on a corner lot, so you will need to make a circle to enjoy all the beauty,” Maxwell said.

The yard has many relaxing features, she said.

“Mrs. Inman said that they enjoy sitting outside and they have much to make them content,” Maxwell said. “A number of seating areas are located around the house so many outdoor rooms to enjoy.

“The home is located near Central Baptist Church in an old established neighborhood. Check it out and enjoy.”

The Yard of the Month is a program conducted by the club to recognize well-kept residences in metro Albany. Club members say they hope the program encourages others to spruce up their homes.

The club accepts nominations from the public. A residence can be nominated by calling (229) 436-6888 and leaving a message with the address.

The Daffodil Garden Club meets at 11 a.m. on the third Tuesday of the month at the Federated Garden Center, 808 Fifth Ave., Albany. The facility also is available for rental.
