It’s Fall, Y’all!!
Staff Reports
ALBANY — It’s that time of year when things go bump in the night.
We’ve got a few things in the works that we hope you’ll keep in mind and contribute to. (and we’d love to have any photos you’d like to share.) Here are some of the things we have planned. You can find information on how to participate at the bottom.
CHILLING TALES
If you have a haunting tale — a haunted house, a spectral visitor, a creepy sight you’ve never been able to explain — we’d like for you to share it with us. We need those by Friday. We’ve already received a couple of submissions, so you’re not alone! Or … are you?
SPOOKY LOOKS
What’s your favorite Halloween costume? Did you dress up to the nocturnal nines like a vampire or go clown casual? Were you a superhero, a hobo or something outlandish?
Send us photos of yourself in your ghoulish best, whether for a Halloween or harvest festival event this year for from an event in the past, and we’ll include it in a photo gallery that will appear online. They also may be used in a feature in The Herald.
Do you decorate your home or office for Halloween? Let us know. You can send in a picture or give us the location and we’ll try to snap a photo (just remember that some vampires can be notoriously camera shy). Plus, it’s pumpkin carving season. Show off you’re skills at creating a jack o’ lantern by sending in a picture!
FRIGHTING FILMS
What movie do you watch around Halloween? Tell us what your favorite scary movies are and why you get a thrill from those particular chills.
HOLIDAY FLAVORS
We’re planning our special Holiday Flavors for SouthView again this November. Last year, the response was so good that we had to break the recipes up over three days to get them all in.
Depending on response this year, we may do the same thing, starting with entrees followed by side dishes, appetizers and desserts. One thing we always need with these recipes are photos, so if you made something special last Christmas or Thanksgiving that you want to submit, we hope you snapped a picture of it. If not, maybe your family can talk you into making the holiday dish early this year. We imagine they’ll be happy to make sure it doesn’t go to waste after you take a photo.
The deadline for submitting these recipes for any fall/winter holiday you celebrate (or just plain good eating at a family meal ) is Nov. 6.
