ALBANY — The Devon Drive residence of Edith and Robert Jones has been selected as the July Yard of the Month by the Daffodil Garden Club.

The Jones residence is located at 2511 Devon Drive.

“If you are headed out Old Dawson Road, you can see the side yard as you pass Devon on the left side of the road,” Marideane Maxwell, chair of the club recognition committee, said.

“Robert immediately gave credit for the flowers and planning to his wife, but this is a big lot so I am sure he helps with upkeep,” Maxwell said. “You will note on the front side of the property on the left that a shade area has been planted with hosta and highlighted with red salvia.

“Note statuary along the brick area with benches for enjoying the scenery. The entire area around the property line is planted with yellow swamp flower and makes quite a show when in bloom.”

The Joneses have made a big impact in a short time, she said.

“Although the couple has lived in the home for only two years, they have made a statement with the lovely grounds,” Maxwell observed.

The Daffodil Garden Club has been recognizing well-kept and landscaped Albany area homes with its Yard of the Month program since June 2009. The club, which will resume its meetings in September, conducts the program year-round and encourages nominations from the public. To nominate a residence, call (229) 436-6888 and leave a message about the location.
