ALBANY — The Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital received more than $3,400 from the Junior League of Albany during a check presentation Friday for the purpose of making sure the region’s children can have optimal health care.

The donation of $3,433.26 was generated from a portion of fundraiser proceeds collected by the Junior League over the year.

“We are grateful for the hard work and support from the community,” said Amanda Biery, the CMN coordinator at Phoebe.

The Junior League has partnered with the Phoebe Foundation to support CMN for more than 20 years, members of the Junior League said Friday.

“We vote each year as a league to donate to Children’s Miracle Network,” said Marci Prisant, president of the league. “There are so many members of the league who have benefited from Children’s Miracle Network, so it is close to our hearts. It is heartwarming feeling to be able to donate to Children’s Miracle Network.”

Children’s Miracle Network is the alliance of 170 hospitals that serve children. Since 1997, CMN supporters have raised more than $2 million to provide specialized equipment and programs to help babies and children treated at Phoebe, including the most critically ill newborns, officials with the hospital say.

Biery said Friday that CMN funding serves as a bolster to the hospital’s budget, providing the resources necessary to gain access to equipment, education and therapy not included in Phoebe’s general budget for pediatric care.
