Lashea Dancer named Albany Tech director of Adult Education

ALBANY — Albany Technical College has appointed Lashea Dancer its new executive director of Adult Education, bringing more than two decades of experience in psychology, social services, and higher education leadership to the role.

Dancer holds a master of science degree in Counseling and Psychology from Troy State University and a bachelor of science degree in Sociology from Valdosta State University. She has dedicated her career to supporting students through education, wellness and advocacy.

Prior to her new appointment, Dancer served as project director of the Student Wellness Grant at Albany Technical College, where she directed wellness and first-generation student initiatives, managed grant compliance and budgets, and developed partnerships with community organizations. Her combination of clinical expertise, social services background, and higher education leadership enables her to provide impactful learning opportunities for adult learners.

“Mrs. Dancer has a proven track record of creating supportive and effective learning environments,” Albany Technical College President Emmett Griswold said. “Her leadership and commitment to student success will help strengthen and expand our Adult Education programs across our service area.”

In her new role, Dancer will oversee Albany Technical College’s Adult Education division, which provides essential literacy, GED preparation, English as a Second Language, and work force readiness programs to the community. She will also continue to support the MAPP Grant until her previous role is filled in the coming weeks.

I look forward to working with our team to ensure they receive the tools and support needed to achieve their goals.”

Dancer’s office will be located in Freedom Hall on Albany Tech’s campus.
