LEESBURG — A trio of Leesburg schools are coming together for a two-week production of their debut Community Youth Musical, “You Ain’t Nothin’ But a Werewolf.”
Performances begin 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, as well as Nov. 6-7 at Twin Oaks Elementary School cafeteria, located at 240 Old Smithville Road in Leesburg. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. each night.
Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students. In addition, students will have Trojan drawstrings available for $10 and luggage tags for $2.
Set in the 1950s, “You Ain’t Nothin’ But a Werewolf” tells the story of outcast Rupert Lydecker, whose only friend is the compassionate Claudia.
“He takes it upon himself to visit Doctor Dangerfield, mad scientist,” a news release states.
The trip results in a hairy transformation for Rupert.
“Come back to the ’50s, when Sci-Fi was in, rock ‘n’ roll ruled the Earth and teenagers were — well — teenagers,” the release states. “Everything is dynamite in this family-fun show.”
A cast of 60 students bring the performance to life, performing such tunes as “Golly! Golly!,” “Blue Suede Paws” and “All Messed Up.” The production is under the artistic direction of Wendy Edwards, musical direction of Gary Unger and Paula Carter and choreographed by Judy Dabbs.
“It is sure to be a groovy time for everyone,” the release states.
