LETTER: Federal debt ceiling should be lowered
JOHN BRYANT
Basically, the only difference between running the federal government and local and state governments is that of passing money to foreign countries.
The song “Paint Me a Birmingham” comes to mind when I read The Albany Herald Editorial Board’s Oct. 8 editorial. It’s been said that a picture is worth 1,000 words, and the Editorial Board proved this.
Every one in south Georgia is familiar with “the Take Back man,” or at least hard of them. If you don’t pay your payments on time on your vehicle, you can expect a visit from these people at night, at work or while shopping.
Our federal government seems to be in some type of take-back mode. Just like a responsible citizen, our Congress people know that you shouldn’t try to borrow your way out of debt. The debt ceiling needs to be lowered instead of raised!
This time, the federal government — not the Red Cross — is charging for the doughnuts!
