Jimmy Carter Historic National Site to host ‘Old Time Farm Day’

PLAINS — “Old Time Farm Day” will be May 3 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Jimmy Carter Boyhood Farm in Archery, just west of Plains.

The event is free and highlights farm life in the “good ‘ol day.” Demonstrations will include plowing with mules, blacksmithing, and peanut boiling.

Monroe Class of 1989 planning reunion

ALBANY — The Monroe High School Class of 1989 is planning its 25th reunion on June 20-22.

Classmates plan to gather on June 20 for a luau at a location which will be announced soon. An all-day celebration is planned for June 21, beginning with golf from 9 a.m. until noon at Turner Field Golf Club.

A family cookout is planned from noon until 4 p.m. at English Road Park, with a semi-formal party that evening at 7 p.m., followed by a buffet dinner.

The reunion will end June 22 with a fellowship and worship service at 10 a.m. in the Monroe High School cafeteria. Guest speaker will be Jermaine Reid.

Cost is $135 per classmate or $155 per couple, with $20 for each additional guest. Fee for 1989 classmates married to each other is $210.
