AFD extinguishes debris fire
An Albany firefighter wades into smoking debris next to Purvis Auto Repair at 1605 Camp Lane. The fire started at about 12:15 p.m. Tuesday. The debris was from a manufactured home that is under demolition in the lot next to Purvis’ repair shop. With the wind whipping the flames, Buddy Purvis said he took a water hose and put out any fire that crept onto his side of the fence. No injuries were reported.

ALBANY, Ga. — The Albany Fire Department has extinguished a debris fire near an Albany beauty salon.
Firefighters responded to the scene of the fire at 126 Maple Street and found a debris pile burning near Hot Curls Salon. The pile was extinguished and no injuries were reported.
The scene is near where some residential demolition has been taking place.
