ALBANY — A bicyclist was injured Saturday evening in a hit-and-run wreck in downtown Albany when a car ran a red light and struck him, Albany police say.

Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the Albany Police Department, said the cyclist, a white male whose identity had not been determined Sunday morning, sustained serious injuries in the wreck. The incident was reported at 7:49 p.m. at Jefferson Street and Pine Avenue.

According to the APD report, a car, described as a white compact, was traveling north of Jefferson and may have been attempting to turn left onto Pine when witnesses say its ran a red light and hit the bicyclist. The rider “sustained serious injuries and was transported for treatment by Dougherty County EMS. No positive ID has been made” on the rider, Banks said.

ALBANY POLICE: No other reports were available Sunday.

DOUGHERTY POLICE: Dougherty County Police responded to at least nine calls on Saturday and early Sunday, available reports indicate. Incidents included:

— Assist motorist at Cutts Drive and Mock Road;

— Burglary alarm on the 3200 block of Gillionville Road;

— Criminal trespass on the 2200 block of Duitman Road;

— Personal welfare check on the 5600 block of Newton Road;

— Suspicious auto at Seymour Lane and Nelms Road, on the 3500 block of Sylvester Road;

— Suspicious person on the 2600 block of Sylvester Road;

— Traffic arrest on the 1800 block of South County Line Road, at Fleming Road and Mock Road.
