ALBANY — The Albany Garden Club, along with other area gardening groups, will host a plant exchange on April 7. The event is open to anyone in the community.

From 9 a.m.-noon, participants will have the opportunity to trade plants with each other. If someone does not have any plants of their own to share, participating gardening groups can provide some.

The plant exchange is not the first the club has hosted.

“We’ve had plenty,” said Joyce Bridges, an Albany Garden Club member. However, this will be the first one hosted by the club since the its building suffered damage in last year’s storms. Repairs and renovations were completed last June, and the building has reopened.

Additionally, master gardeners will be in attendance at the plant exchange to answer questions. Master gardeners have received their certification, as “there’s a course that they have to take,” according to Bridges. Such programs exist all throughout Georgia. Ann Almgren and Norris Wooten will be among the master gardeners available during the plant exchange.

In advance of the event, the Albany Garden Club will also host a meeting on April 6 before noon. Both events will be located at the Federated Garden Center at 808 Fifth Ave.
