From Staff Reports
ALBANY — An Albany man was arrested for reckless conduct after a 2-year-old in his care was found in the middle of an intersection on Monday.
A report released by the Albany Police Department said that officers responded to a call at the Homerun Foods at 2728 Dawson Road in reference to a missing juvenile. Tabatha Wells, 39, told officers she and her boyfriend saw a small child in the middle of the intersection of Pointe North Boulevard and Dawson Road.
Wells grabbed the child and walked around in search of the toddler’s parents. After no success, Wells told officers she walked to Homerun Foods to call the police.
The child’s mother, Johnnice Williams, 26, told officers she awoke her boyfriend, Mikieal Boyd, 27, that morning. She told Boyd she was going to wash clothes before placing the child in his arms in the bed. When Williams returned home, the child was gone.
Boyd told officers he fell asleep while the child was in his arms. After realizing the child was missing, Boyd and Williams searched for the child in the parking lot.
Officers arrested Boyd and charged him with reckless conduct and did not find any contraband or weapons on him before placing him in the patrol car. Boyd was taken to Dougherty County Jail.
There were no injuries reported on the child.
