Albany native shot in Fort Lauderdale airport attack
Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Christopher B. Prather wounded in attack

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — U.S. Air Force officials have confirmed that one of the individuals wounded at the Fort Lauderdale airport by a suspected terrorist on Friday was Albany native Senior Master Sgt. Christopher B. Prather.
Five people were killed and six others wounded in the shootings.
Prather, a graduate of Westover High School and the son of Dorothy Prather of Albany and the late James Prather Sr., has been released from the hospital and is home recovering from his wounds with his family.
Prather is a member of the Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center and has been stationed at Joint Base San Antonio, Texas, since Aug 2016. His duty position is vehicle maintenance major command functional manager. In that capacity, he conducts manning, force development and career field management in his specialty for airmen in the commands he supports.
Prather graduated from Westover in 1993.
