Albany Tech appoints new VP for Academic Affairs
Milledgeville native to assume new role immediately

ALBANY — Albany Technical College has appointed a new vice president for Academic Affairs. Emmitt L. Griswold will start the position immediately.
A native of Milledgeville, Griswold has spent the last 27 years as a resident of Albany.
“I’m truly honored to be a part of the leadership team and to serve as the academic leader for Albany Technical College,” Griswold said. “I look forward to continuing the institution’s strong tradition of providing competent and ethical employees for employers through effective and deliberate leadership practices that promote institutional and community growth.”
Griswold has more than 25 years of work experience in various positions within Georgia’s state government. He was appointed interim vice president for academic affairs at Albany Tech in February of 2018. Prior to that appointment, he served as the dean of academic affairs for the Construction, Manufacturing and Transportation Division at Albany Tech for more than 10 years.
Griswold has also served as an educator in technical education at ATC and higher education at Albany State University as a part-time criminal justice professor since 2003.
Prior to his work in higher and technical education, Griswold had a career in law enforcement/corrections, serving as deputy warden for the state Department of Corrections and a probation/parole officer for the Department of Juvenile Justice.
Griswold received his doctor of education degree in career and adult education from Valdosta State University and master of science and bachelor of science degrees in criminal justice from Albany State. He currently serves as a board member for Albany Second Chance and the Commodore Conyers College and Career Academy.
