Children of the Dream art show planned
High school, middle school students display talent in art competition, exhibit

ALBANY — Renaissance Connection Inc., along with the 2019 King Day Celebration Committee and the Dougherty County School System, are partnering to present the 2018-2019 Children of the Dream Youth Art Competition & Exhibit. The competition is open to students from all middle and high schools in Dougherty County. This year’s theme is “Speak Up! Speak Out!”
The awards ceremony will be held on Dec. 5 at the Thronateeska Heritage Center in the Chautauqua Room at 6 p.m. Awards will be presented for first, second and third places, Best of Show, and the Rising Star category.
The Children of the Dream traveling exhibit will be on display at the Thronateeska Science Museum, the Albany Mall, a special appearance at the King Day Celebration 2019, The Albany Civil Rights Institute, and will end at the Renaissance Art Café Gallery.
The exhibit is organized by Renaissance Connection Inc., an arts and cultural nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting creativity through all forms of art combined with the use of technology for the educational advancement of the community. This is the fifth year that Renaissance Connection has taken on the task of organizing this competition and exhibit.
