ALBANY — A number of local students were recognized by their colleges and universities for their work at the schools. Among the honorees were:
Troy University — Provost’s List
TROY, Ala. — Troy University recently recognized students who have been named to the Provost’s List for Term 1. Full-time undergraduate students who are registered for 12 semester hours and who have a grade-point average of at least 3.65 qualify for the Provost’s List. Local students recognized include:

University of Maryland Global Campus — Dean’s List
ADELPHI, Md. — More than 9,000 University of Maryland Global Campus students were named to the Dean’s List for the summer 2024 term. To be eligible for the honor, a student must complete at least six credits during the term, earn a grade-point average of at least 3.5 for the term, and maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.5 at UMGC. Local students recognized include:

ADELPHI, Md. — University of Maryland Global Campus graduated more than 3,200 students worldwide in the summer 2024 term. Local graduates included:

ATLANTA — The Georgia Institute of Technology awarded degrees to approximately 1,720 undergraduate and graduate students at the conclusion of summer semester. Local students among the graduates included:

ATLANTA — More than 2,000 students earned degrees and certificates from Georgia State University during the summer 2024 semester. Southwest Georgia graduates and the degree(s) and/or certificate(s) they earned, include:
Dominique Brown of Albany: Master of Education degree in Health and Physical Education
Kenya Young of Albany: Bachelor of Arts degree in Film and Media, with a minor in Theater
Perry Houck of Albany: Master of Science degree in Communication Sciences & Disorders
Tahnayah Moore of Albany: Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Linguistics, minoring in Korean Language and Culture, with Global Scholar Distinction.
Georgia State University — Global Scholar
ATLANTA — More than 100 students at Georgia State University earned the Global Scholar Distinction during the summer of 2024, recognizing their development of global competence: the skills, knowledge and awareness that enhance the ability to succeed in a global environment. The Global Scholar Distinction is open to all bachelor degree-seeking majors in all colleges, in addition to associate’s degree-seeking students at Perimeter College.
Students who take five or more designated courses across the university and earn a grade of “B” or better and keep an institutional grade-point average of 3.0 or higher at the time of graduation are recognized as Global Scholars.
