COLUMBUS — A Columbus TV station reported Sunday morning that congressional candidate Bobby Scott died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon.
TV station WRBL said Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan and members of Scott’s family confirmed that the candidate died at his Columbus home at 2:59 p.m. Saturday. The coroner said Scott suffered from diabetic ketoacidosis and had both high blood sugar and high blood pressure.
Scott had qualified to face Greg Duke in the May 24 Republican primary for the right to challenge incumbent Democratic U.S. 2nd District Congressman Sanford Bishop in the Nov. 8 general election.
