DAWSON — Officials with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Monday that an off-duty police officer in Dawson had been booked on an aggravated assault charge.

The GBI said Monday that, on Wednesday, the Dawson Police Department requested investigative assistance from the agency regarding an allegation that a Dawson police officer, Latavius McIntosh, 27, pointed a gun at Shalarrious Mays, 27, during an altercation.

The GBI said the altercation occurred at 409 Oak St., the residence of Lakiesha Terry and Mays. McIntosh was off-duty during the incident, officials said.

GBI officials said Monday that a criminal arrest warrant was issued and served on McIntosh, charging him with aggravated assault. He was booked into the Terrell County Jail, officials said Monday.
