Deadline for annual art show is Monday
Annual art show funded by Empty Bowls fundraiser
From Staff Reports
ALBANY — The entry deadline for the Albany Area Art Council’s 19th annual Southwest Georgia Regional Fine Art Exhibition and Sale is Monday. Submissions will be accepted until midnight.
The exhibition will be located at AAAC’s Carnegie Library Gallery from June 7-July 25. The event is the largest juried art exhibition and sale in the area. The show covers artwork from artists from “about a two-hour radius of Albany,” according to Arts Council Director Nicole Williams, but several past submissions have come from artists in Florida, Alabama, Tennessee and Mississippi.
Submitted artwork must meet the requirements listed on the submission form on the AAAC’s website to be accepted. Anyone who makes art is encouraged to submit their artwork for the 2018 show. The submission guidelines are for logistical requirements and not to hinder artistic expression.
“The show gives people an opportunity to meet with other artists in the community and to build on our arts community,” Williams said. “I would absolutely encourage any artist who wanted to participate to submit their artwork.”
Applicants must submit a nonrefundable fee of $35 upon entry. Artists’ application fees cover the jurors’ fees and prize money awarded to the winners in three categories: painting/drawing, photography/digital art and sculpture/ceramics. The art show itself is funded entirely from the annual Empty Bowls fundraiser event.
The deadline for approved artwork delivery is May 31, from noon to 7 p.m.
