ALBANY — The deadline is Wednesday for submissions to be part of a juried exhibit at the Albany Museum of Art that will feature works by teachers in the region.

AMA officials say the exhibit, “Artists as Educators/Educators as Artists,” will be featured in the Learning Curve at the museum from September to November. Works accepted from the submissions will be included in the show.

Designed to highlight the talent of teachers in the region, participants can be teachers in any field of study and can be at any teaching level.

“This is a way for us to show some of our regional teachers’ artistic side. We are not limiting it to just art teachers because everyone can be an artists, not just those who teach it,” Chloe Hinton, director of education and program planning at the AMA, said. “Teachers and professors are a vital asset of our community, and we try to celebrate them as best we can throughout the year.”

Teachers can contact Hinton at (229) 439-8400 or [email protected].

Located at 311 Meadowlark Drive adjacent to Darton State College, the AMA’s collection includes 19th- and 20th-century American and European art, as well as a substantial collection of sub-Saharan African art including masks, sculpture, pottery, textiles and musical instruments.

The museum, which is accredited by the American Association of Museums, is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays. Admission is free. The AMA’s website is www.albanymuseum.com.
