ALBANY — City of Albany Managing Director of Engineering & Planning Bruce Maples noted in a news release that Don Cutler Sr. Drive will be closed to through traffic starting Monday at 8 a.m. while the Georgia & Florida Railroad crossing at Don Cutler between Inverness Road and East Towne Road is repaired.

Maples said the work is expected to last until some time Wednesday.

“The Georgia & Florida Railroad will be making improvements to the crossing identified above,” Maples said in the news release. “To ensure safety for the railroad work crews and expedite the implementation of the improvements, the entire roadway will be closed to all through traffic on Don Cutler Sr. Drive in this area. During this time, motorists will need to plan their trip using alternate routes and expect increased travel times.”

Residents in the area have registered a number of complaints about the condition of the railroad crossing, and city officials have maneuvered their way through the painstaking process of having railroad officials address the concern.
