ATLANTA – Peach State Health Plan, a care management organization that helps Georgians live healthier lives through innovative health care solutions, and former professional football player Harry Douglas will host a Back-to-School Bash and Resource Fair at Albany State University’s West Campus Arena in Albany Saturday.

This free event is open to all students and families in the Albany and Dougherty County communities to celebrate the end of summer and provide students with critical back-to-school resources. The event will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Attendees will get to join Douglas for food, games, entertainment, DJ, line dance contests, door prizes, and interact with more than 25 community vendors.

“It is great to get out here with Peach State Health Plan to spend some time with these students and provide them with much-needed school supplies for the upcoming year,” the retired NFL Atlanta Falcon and current ESPN analyst said. “As a parent, I understand how important, and costly, some of these school supplies can be, especially for families with multiple children. These events are a great chance to get out into the community and get these supplies out to these families.”

Peach State Health Plan will provide attendees with an array of free hygiene items like toothbrushes, toothpaste, hand sanitizer and soap. Partnering organizations will be onsite to provide free school supplies for students and their families as well as health screenings and physicals.

“At Peach State Health Plan, we understand how impactful providing no-cost school supplies can be for families in many smaller and more rural communities,” Peach State Health Plan Community Relations Representative Tameeka Daniels said. “Back to school can be a stressful time for parents and families as they prepare for the upcoming school year. These back-to-school resource fairs are a great way to alleviate some of that stress.”

The ASU West Campus Arena is located at 2400 Gillionville Road in Albany. Signage for the event can be found around the campus, with Peach State Health Plan balloons guiding the way to the arena. For more information, visit the Peach State Health Plan website.
