GBI investigating double homicide in Fort Gaines
Two people were found dead early Thursday morning

FORT GAINES — Agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation have been called in to assist with a double homicide early Thursday in Fort Gaines.
According to a GBI news release, Fort Gaines law enforcement officers were dispatched at 1:05 a.m. Thursday to 206 College St., where gunshots had been reported.
When they arrived, officers found two people dead at the residence. They were identified as Charlie Smith, 29, and Manuelito Jackson, no age available. The GBI did not say whether either or both of the men were fatally shot, but the release labeled the incident as a double murder.
GBI officials say Fort Gaines Police Chief Sam Sterling called the agency in to help with the investigation.
Autopsies on the two men will be performed at the GBI Crime Lab in Macon, GBI officials said.
