LAKELAND — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating a late Friday night a homicide in Lakeland.

GBI officials said the agency’s Douglas regional office was called in by Lakeland police to investigate the shooting death of Willis Lamar Flintroyal, 32. According to a GBI release, Lakeland police were called to 75 E. Peeler Ave. in the Lanier County community around 11:30 p.m. Friday when a shooting was reported.

The GBI said Lakeland police found Flintroyal, who had a gunshot wound. Flintroyal was transported to the SGMC Hospital in Lakeland by family members, and was later pronounced dead. Schalonda Beatrice Johnson, 32, also was transported by family to South Georgia Medical Center in Lakeland with a non-life threatening gunshot wound, the agency said.

While at the Peeler Avenue location, police officers heard gunshots and responded to the area of Martin Luther King Drive and Eightth Street, where Lewis S. Geddie, 20, was to be suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Geddie was transported to South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta.

Flintroyal’s body has been transported to the GBI Medical Examiner’s office for autopsy.

The investigation is ongoing, GBI officials said.
