AMERICUS – Ivey Neal, a registered nurse in the Labor and Delivery Unit at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, was honored for her outstanding service as the September 2024 recipient of the DAISY Award. This honor recognizes what colleagues say are Neal’s “exceptional dedication, compassion, and professionalism as a nurse in the L&D unit.”

Neal’s nomination came from several families who were deeply moved by her attentive and kind approach during their time in the hospital. One family expressed their gratitude, saying, “from the moment she walked into the room, she provided amazing customer service and bedside care.”

Another nomination echoed similar sentiments, noting, “She has been so attentive to my daughter and family since we arrived. We love her.”

Other patients also highlighted Neal’s strong listening skills and caring nature. One nomination stated, Sshe was very attentive and caring. She’s a very good listener. I hope she’s still around if I decide to have another child.”

The DAISY Award is presented to nurses who go above and beyond in delivering compassionate care. Phoebe Sumter officials said they are recognizing Neal for her “dedication to patient care, her exceptional bedside manner, and her ability to connect with families during significant moments in their lives.”

“Neal’s commitment to excellence exemplifies the high standard of care Phoebe Sumter strives to deliver to all its patients,” hospital officials said. “Her recognition through the DAISY Award is a testament to the impact she has made on both her colleagues and the community.”
