ALBANY – Phoebe Physicians recently welcomed two highly accomplished physicians to Phoebe Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine, marking the first time Phoebe has had three physicians serving patients with complex wound care needs.

Drs. Christian M. Repollet Otero and Christopher Leiker joined Dr. Shaw Tang on the Phoebe Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine team, enhancing Phoebe’s commitment to providing exceptional care for patients with chronic wounds and related conditions. Tang also is board-certified in surgery and cosmetic surgery and provides advanced surgical treatment for wound care patients.

Otero brings extensive training in emergency, hyperbaric and wilderness medicine. He earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from Ponce Health Sciences University in Puerto Rico and completed a residency at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Ponce, P.R., where he served as chief resident. During his tenure, Otero managed a diverse range of medical emergencies and surgical procedures. His specialized knowledge in wound care and hyperbarics will make a significant impact on the health and well-being of Phoebe’s patients.

Leiker, a board-certified family medicine physician, also has extensive expertise in wound care and hyperbaric medicine. He earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine and completed his residency in Family Medicine at the Baton Rouge General Family Medicine Residency Program. Recognized for his excellence in patient education and community service, Leiker has a proven track record of improving public health and patient outcomes, particularly through education and preventive care initiatives.

Both Otero and Leiker also completed fellowship training in Hyperbaric and Undersea Medicine at Louisiana State University.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Repollet Otero and Dr. Leiker to the Phoebe Family,” Phoebe Physicians President Dr. Estrellita Redmon said in a news release. “Their exceptional training and passion for patient care make them crucial assets to our team, and they will allow us to expand and enhance the vital specialty care we provide to the many wound care and hyperbaric medicine patients in our region.”

Phoebe Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine utilizes the region’s largest hyperbaric chamber, a spacious multiplace chamber that accommodates up to 12 people and minimizes the claustrophobic effects of a single-patient chamber. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized environment. It is used to treat serious infections and injuries, wounds that may not heal because of diabetes or other conditions, and decompression sickness.
