ALBANY – Carolyn Higgins has been named the new Phoebe Foundation president and chief fundraising officer. Higgins began serving in her new role last month.
“I am honored to join the Phoebe Foundation team,” she said. “Developing strong donor relationships will be key to the foundation’s success in the community. The team has done an outstanding job building relationships, and I look forward to continuing that momentum. In addition, the Albany community has been very welcoming and I am happy to now call it home.”
With more than 27 years of health care experience, Higgins brings a wealth of knowledge in raising philanthropic support for the nonprofit sector. Prior to joining the Phoebe Foundation, she served as executive director at the Florida Hospital Zephyrhills Foundation for almost eight years. Throughout her career, she has worked with a number of health care organizations, gaining experience in major gift cultivation, grant writing, strategic planning and enhanced quality donor relationships.
“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Carolyn to the Phoebe Foundation. She has a passion for philanthropy and health care which has been exemplified through her many successes she has had throughout her career,” Tom Sullivan, senior vice president of operations at Phoebe, said. “With her knowledge and expertise, we will continue to advance the mission of the foundation.”
Since joining the Phoebe Foundation, Higgins has hit the ground running and says she is energized by the opportunity to expand the foundation’s presence and make an impact in southwest Georgia.
Higgins has a bachelor’s degree in management and a master’s degree in public administration. She has completed a two-year fellowship with the Advisory Board Company in Healthcare Leadership and has earned the distinction of Fellow of the Advisory Board Company. In 2012, she became a certified LEAN leader, and in 2017, she became a Certified Fund Raising Executive.
The Phoebe Foundation is a philanthropic organization whose mission is to support Phoebe Putney Health System and the patients it serves. With the help of generous donors, the foundation is able to provide life-saving technology and services throughout southwest Georgia.
