Southwest Georgia Home School Association Key Club named ‘Distinguished Club’

MACON — The Southwest Georgia Home School Association Key Club received the Dr. Robert Barron Outstanding Service Award and was named a “Distinguished Club” at the Kiwanis District of Georgia Key Club Convention held in Macon.
In addition to the Barron and Distinguished Club awards, the SGHSA Key Club earned a second-place finishes in the Major Emphasis award competition, the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Home Fundraising Award, the Social Media Award, and the Traditional Year in Review Award.
The SGHSA Key Club, which is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Dougherty County, is active throughout the year with projects such as “Light the Night” to fight leukemia and lymphoma, Family Day at the Albany Museum of Art, “Easter Eggstravaganza” at Tift Park, toiletry supply boxes for The Anchorage residents, “Stash the Trash” and other community events, as well as supporting and assisting Kiwanis Club of Dougherty with fundraising events like its annual December pancake breakfast and the Pritchett-Pippin Dance Recital.
