Police investigate violent home invasion on Webb Street

ALBANY — Early Saturday morning, a violent home invasion and armed robbery occurred in northwest Albany, according to the Albany Police Department. Assailants forcibly entered a home on the 1500 block of Webb Street around 4 a.m..
Police were called to the scene after two unknown males kicked in the rear door of the home and attacked the homeowner. The victim was struck in the head multiple times with an unknown weapon, according to reports.
The attackers, described as two black males wearing black clothing including hoodies, then demanded money at gunpoint. When the victim told them he had no money to give, a shot was fired in to the floor of the home, and the suspects began rummaging through the house searching for cash.
When no money was found, they stole a 55-inch flat screen TV off the wall, exited the home the same way they came in and made off in an unknown direction.
This case is active and has been forwarded to APD’s Criminal Investigations Bureau.
