TIFTON — Young adult fiction writer Jessica Hawke will lead the annual Young Writers’ Conference at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College July 14.

The workshop begins with registration from 8:30-9 a.m. and ends with a reception from 3:30-4 p.m. Cost for the workshop is $10 with lunch and snacks provided. To register, go to https://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/aYgdpqj8fW5Rd4. Registration will also be available the morning of the event.

The Young Writers’ Conference also includes a contest for poetry, fiction and short film. A slot to submit entries in the contest is provided at the above address.

Hawke is the author of the paranormal series “Phantom.”

“I write tales of fantasy and paranormal adventure for young adults and the young at heart,” she said.

One reviewer at Goodreads wrote, “Hawke’s ‘Phantom Touch’ is a thoroughly engaging read.” Another added that she would “highly recommend [Hawke’s] work if you’re into ghosts, mediums, psychics and everything in between. She has a graceful writing style that drags you into the story and keeps you reading.”

In addition to the classes led by Hawke, the workshop also includes sessions by ABAC faculty on poetry and non-fiction writing. The reception will feature student awards and information from graduates and community members about career paths for students interested in writing. The conference is free to all ABAC students who register in advance.
