Lee County roads remain impacted by heavy weekend rains

LEESBURG — Officials in Lee County said Wednesday afternoon that several roads remained impacted by the heavy rain the area experienced over the weekend.

Officials said the following roads/areas were still closed or impaired by recent flooding as of 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday:

— Cook Road

— 400 block of Creekside Place

— Turner Road

— Holly Plantation

— Middle Road

— Eagle Pond Road

— North Doublegate Drive from Hampton Road to Danbury Lane

— Joe Toole Drive

— Lower part of Northhampton Road

— Hartsfield Road

— Sneed Road

— Ambleside Drive

— Hawkstead Drive

— Stoney Road

— Bowers Road

— Higher addresses of Creekside Drive

— Pebble Ridge Drive

— Murphy Road

— Sasser Road

— Powell Road

— Pettis Road

— Cambridge Road

“We ask that citizens please use caution while traveling in the area,” a news released from county officials said. “We thank the citizens of Lee County for your patience and cooperation during this time.”

The news release also said roadside storm debris pick-up from Hurricane Michael has resumed. Stroud Road and Tower Place Lane debris drop-off sites are open to the public.
