AMERICUS — More than 20 Lee County students visited Phoebe Sumter recently to gain exposure to health care careers. The students are part of the school’s Rural Health Pioneers program. Students got a first-hand look at different areas of the hospital and how they work together, and also heard from a variety of hospital staff and physicians about their roles at Phoebe Sumter. The Rural Health Pioneers program is part of HOSA-Future Health Professions, and gives students the opportunity for interactive, hands-on learning within the health care industry.
