Man caught trying to cash bogus check

ALBANY, Ga. – A man dressed in a white shirt and blue basketball shorts walked into the Bank of America at 2630 Dawson Road Thursday and put a check for $67,000 on the counter. He wanted cash back, according to police reports.

The check was phony, police said. Albany Police Department officers responded at about 1:15 p.m. to the bank. A foot chase started and officers caught 21-year-old Jamal Torquil Blount at the Albany Mall parking lot at about 1:30 p.m., stated a police report.
