MOODY AIR FORCE BASE — If you hear some unusual loud noises Wednesday near Valdosta, they may be coming from explosive ordnance disposal at the Grand Bay Bombing and Gunnery Range.

Moody Air Force Base officials said Monday that the 23d Civil Engineer Squadron will be detonating explosives 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday at the Grand Bay range.

Officials said that “excess noise” may be heard throughout Valdosta and surrounding areas from the controlled detonations, which will be overseen by EOD members and Moody range control specialists.

Military personnel regularly use the range and its surrounding airspace Monday to Friday during various hours for tactical air and ground maneuvers, as well as weapons training. The U.S. Air Force Reserve also uses the range and airspace on specified weekends.
