ATLANTA — A 48-year-old man wanted on a murder charge in New Jersey is believed to be in Georgia, FBI officials say.
Dennis M. Cunningham, aka Muhamad, should be considered armed and dangerous, FBI officials said.
David J. LeValley, special agent in charge of FBI Atlanta Field Office, and Timothy Gallagher, special agent in charge of the FBI Newark Division, are asking for the public’s help in locating Cunningham, who is believed to be in the metro Atlanta area.
Around 12:30 p.m. on May 12, officials with the Irvington Police Department in New Jersey were called to a residence following reports of gunfire. When police arrived, the FBI said in a news release, victim, Dino Bermudez, 34, was found on the front porch of the residence.
Bermudez was conscious but had sustained gunshot wounds to the left thigh. He was transported to a hospital, but subsequently died from the wounds, the FBI said.
Cunningham has been charged in the shooting death and officials with the Irvington Police Department and the Essex County, N.J., Prosecutor’s Office believe he is in Georgia, where he has relatives in the Douglasville area and ties in the Jesup area.
Cunningham, who also faces a federal charge of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, is described as a black male who is 6 feet 2 and weighs 215 pounds.
The FBI says that anyone with information regarding Cunningham’s whereabouts is asked to contact Crime Stoppers Atlanta at (404) 577-8477. All calls can remain anonymous and there is a reward through Crime Stoppers.
