Chehaw to host pet adoption event
By Gypsy Crow
ALBANY — Happy Trails of Sowega will partner with Friends of Chehaw Saturday for a family- and pet-friendly adoption event with animals from the Albany Humane Society, Companion Animal Hospital and Lee County Animal Shelter.
Dog and cat adoptions are planned from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Park visitors are encouraged to bring their pets for fun and games. Food, vendors, and entertainment will be available.
Kids can enjoy pony rides from My Little Pony Parties for $5, paint a pony for $3, and even take a picture with a Twinkle the Unicorn for just $1.
Pet owners who decide to bring their family’s best friends to Paws at the Park will find tons of things to do with their pets. Gus Navarro from K9 Concepts dog training will host obedience and personal protection dog demonstrations throughout the day. Darlene Pino will host hourlong agility classes at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for a $10 donation per dog. The course will also be open to guests and their dogs to try for free throughout the day.
John Antoniewicz with Ant Hill Photography will have a photo booth set up to capture photos with pets and owners, who can also take part in contests.
Vendors available for the event include Elizabeth Kennedy Designs, Kale’s Bandanas, Heads Up Boutique and Flying S Creations for visitors looking to peruse crafted goods. Food can be purchased from Joe’s To Go and Sweet Treats. Local music group “Mark 3:17” or “M317” will provide inspirational, family-friendly music for the day.
The event is free for Chehaw Park passholders. For non-members, a $3 fee is required of adults and $2 for children. Money raised will be donated to participating animal shelters.
