ALBANY — Some of the staff members from the Women’s and Children’s Division at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital gathered to unveil the new Baby-Friendly designation banner in the hospital’s main lobby on Wednesday. The designation process took five years and was awarded by Baby-Friendly USA Inc. as part of the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative. Launched by the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children’s Fund, the initiative encourages and recognizes hospitals and birthing centers offering “an optimal level of care for mothers and their babies.”
