A section of Pine Avenue was blocked off to traffic after an automobile crashed into a utility pole near Pine’s intersection with Byron Road.
The single-vehicle accident, which involved a gold-colored Pontiac Sunfire, has damaged the pole, which Water, Gas & Light Commission workers were working to replace.
Police were rerouting traffic from Pine over to Broad and Flint avenues.
No one was injured, authorities say.
Albany Police Spokesperson Phyllis Banks says that the driver of the car, Antonio Ricardo Crapps, 31, was driving on the wrong side of the road for an undetermined reason and crashed when he attempted to correct the action and move to the right side of the road.
He’s been cited for driving on the wrong side of the road, passing in a no passing zone, failure to maintain lane and striking a stationary object
