Secretary of state’s office said more than 40,000 licenses due for renewal

MACON – By the end of the year, chiropractic examiners, land surveyors, landscape architects, master barbers, professional engineers, psychologists and veterinarians are encouraged to visit the secretary of state’s Professional Licensing Board’s website and renew their licenses. The deadline to renew these licenses is Dec. 31.
Currently, more than 40,000 licensees are up for renewal.
“With the deadline to renew professional licenses for 40,000 individuals right around the corner, I am encouraging these Georgians to take advantage of our online resources to quickly complete this process, and we stand ready to assist them if needed,” Secretary of State Robyn Crittenden said. “The Professional Licensing Boards division is committed to making it as easy as possible for Georgia’s work force to navigate our licensing procedures and stay compliant with state law and rules.”
Once a license-holder submits payment and verifies renewal, they can print a payment receipt and their professional license. Continuing education documents should be submitted if selected for an audit. For any necessary assistance, consult the office’s step-by-step instructions, contact the Professional Licensing Boards division by calling (478) 207-2440 or email office staff.
Late fees are assessed if license-holder fails to renew before the deadline. Georgia law prohibits professional license-holders from practicing without a license, which includes an expired license. After the late renewal period, licenses that have not been renewed will lapse, at which time license-holders must apply for reinstatement and meet all application requirements. Reinstatement of any license is at the discretion of the board.
Interested persons can visit the secretary of state’s website to check the licensure status of an individual or firm. Contact the Professional Licensing Boards division by calling (478) 207-2440 or emailing office staff if assistance with licensure renewal is required.
